These beauties were curatedduring my time in Lamu, Kenya, the oldest settlement in East Africa and a UNESCO world heritage site. They are inspired by Henna designs seen on women during celebrations on the island. They were handmade by a local silver smith, Slim. His shop looked nothing like ajewelry store and he didn't make much, but what he did create was exceptional. Earrings like these you will neverfind again.

**The additional two photos are of Slim and his shop in Lamu. Donkeys are the only form of transportation inthis traditional Swahili town! Thank goodness for the once a day street cleaners!!
