- A Carved wooden helmet type mask worn by leaders of the all-female society during the initiation of young women into adulthood. The Bassa culture of Liberia would wear helmet masks which are carved with symbolic features that endow the wearer with spiritual powers. Senior members of the Sande initiation society may have worn this work in performances. Bassa peoples, Liberia, Africa.
